Seth Walker Gayle
If one was searching for friendliness or warmth, they would be better off looking elsewhere, for they will find Seth has little to offer. He's a very serious and direct person, and likes to spare little time on things he feels are unhelpful or unnecessary. He's grown out of his youthful ambition, but he still retains a very stern sense of work and a serious attitude that leaves no room for idleness, something he isn't always so stern to anymore but still seems instinctively drawn back to. This can make him seem cold and snappish to others, he's used to being on his own and pursuing his own goals, making him very mission orientated and not much of a talker, his words usually quick and his manner gruff when dealing with others. He doesn't look to make friends or share niceties, he's just getting through life, and more importantly, doing his job.
Much as Seth would like to think he has grown beyond it, he is also very training orientated, though he has since used his ranger skills to pick up hunting and combat as well to defend himself and to get his supplies and resources, making himself independent and using his spare time to hone his skills and practice with his pokemon. He's disdainful of taking the aide of others unless he absolutely needs it, quicker to try to struggle on his own then ask for help, and even when he does, its often roughly, with a reluctant thanks after. He's more prideful then he likes to think, and stubborn, his authoritative and stern manner often coming off as harsh and uncompromising and making it rare that he will back down from his own ways for another, or leave anything unfinished no matter what others may say.
Perhaps its fortunate then that he tends to stay out of things and keep to himself more. Indeed Seth, for all his strict and workaholic mannerisms, is a patient and reclusive person, tending to do things at his own pace and not involve others at all. Its not just working with people not himself, but in general he avoids being around others much, often tended to view the worst in others before the best and preferring not to have to rely on or interact too much, the former out of a lack of trust and the latter out of a complete dislike of social interaction. He doesn't necessarily hate people, but decidedly hates talk, especially such that is not related to some task or business. The only beings he seems to be content spending any sort of leisure time with is generally only his pokemon, who he has come to trust and rely on strongly, and grow a fondness for many pokemon in general through his work as a ranger, work which he very much continues even in Agresti, continuing his path as a ranger even without having an official group anymore, and often looking down at the 'official' Guild of Agresti.

who were you then?
Seth started in a humble life, he was the son of a farmer and a botanist, both with simple abodes. His father maintained a garden, growing vegetables and fruit trees for their table as well as maintaining the livestock, managing their small family farm and trading with others while his mother ran a flower shop, growing lovely and vivid plants to display and to sell. They didn't have much, they didn't ask much, they didn't take much. They were there and they existed, simple people who lived by simple means. For them, it was enough to simple exist and manage. For them, they didn't mind never going anywhere, never doing anything, a life that was the same day in and day out, an endless chain of hard work for meager earnings. For them, they didn't mind being nobody.
Seth didn't want to be them. He contented himself with pouring all his work into the farm while he lived there, weeding the yard, and when he was a bit bigger, spending time caring for the pokemon they owned, but as soon as he could he got his trainer's license and he left to the lab to be a trainer. It was his chance to be independent, and more then that, to get somewhere, to prove himself and grow stronger. He didn't want to stay weak, meek, and simple. He wanted to go places, be places, be someone. He wanted to prove himself and to be the best at what he did, which would be training by first determination.

He wanted to go places, be places, be someone. He wanted to prove himself and to be the best at what he did, which would be training by first determination.
Only once did Seth look back, returning home after he received a Froakie as his starter before leaving again to begin his journey. He never bothered to write or call either. He knew how his family would be, same as they had been his whole life, same as they would be for the rest of their life until they were too old to work anymore. He didn't need to check up on them. They would never change, and they never wanted to change. Seth was determined to have something more.
Seth was a dedicated trainer, and his hard work and grueling determination served him well. He worked himself and his pokemon to the bone to improve and to do better, and he determined to win every battle he came across, refusing to ever have to be the weakest, and taking each loss with a bitter will to not suffer a loss and humiliation in such a manner again. He was successful, and strong, but he wasn't truly achieving what it meant to be a trainer. He pushed himself to get better, but his eyes were always locked on stats, on awards, and on never being satisfied, always feeling he wasn't enough, always feeling he was still lacking. He had trouble actually bonding with his pokemon, and he had trouble finding peace, refusing to slow down or rest.
And eventually it was Seth's failing as a trainer. He finally came to a challenge he couldn't beat, the champion of Kalos. Try and try again, no matter how much he trained his pokemon or how much he analyzed strategy, his strength was not enough. He spent years wandering the region, every few months trying again, and growing more and more frustrated. Eventually he gave it up entirely, frustrated, convinced he must somehow be flawed. Releasing most of his pokemon, he turned away from training.

Eventually, after pointless wandering and frustrated drifting, searching for an answer and for a purpose, Seth was recruited into the rangers. He had a strong will, a strong heart, a strong mind, and a strong team, and they could use someone who could stay dedicated to a cause. He was still dissatisfied for a long time, though bitter in his repeated defeat.
It took a while for him to calm down, but with age came wisdom and understanding. Seth learned to stay cool-headed, and eventually he let it pass, though a lingering grudge remained, he focused instead on his new life goal, taking to being a ranger with dedication and precision. It was tough and often unrewarding work, but very necessary, and in many ways the wilds were calming to him. He wasn't the nicest in his group, but he was efficient, and he was good at what he did.
Until one day Seth vanished on a hiking patrol through Otori Mountain. He had been alone, and whispers say the ninjas had gotten him, but no one could ever find any signs of his fate.

what remains?
Seth carries a bow and arrow, the former based on his first retrieved from some ruins where once he assumed archery and sporting equipment was, though now merely a wooden sturdy longbow he carved himself after his first was broken in a pokemon fight, and the latter partially remnants from the same or handcrafted from wood with heads of wood or stone.
Seth has been on Agresti for several years, since almost the beginning actually, or what most people more or less call the beginning, but he still refuses to work for the guild, though he takes missions with them sometimes.
